Beehive Industries On Good Health & Wellbeing

What lies at the heart of good health and wellbeing is promoting a healthy lifestyle, adopting preventative measures and providing healthcare to everyone. These organisations work on improving our community by overcoming isolation, fostering equal inclusion in schools and promoting healthy living.

Beehive Industries

Beehive Industries is part of the movement to end loneliness. Seniors, the long-term unemployed and people living with a disability are at high risk of living in isolation from society. Beehive Industries is on a mission to change this; by supporting physical and mental wellbeing, providing a sense of purpose and enabling their Beehivers to contribute to society.

Beehivers are the individuals who participate in life at their community centre in Darlinghurst, a place to meet and make new friends. The Beehive Environment provides opportunities for people with low to moderate support needs to learn, develop and maintain skills through educational, recreational and leisure activities.

Breakfast and a two course lunch is served daily, no matter what day they choose to come. Transportation is provided to and from accommodation points in Waterloo, Redfern, Sydney City and East Sydney on the Beehive Bus.

Keeley’s Cause

Keeley’s Cause improves the wellbeing of disabled children and their families by providing them with the opportunity to engage in meaningful learning experiences. They provide iPads to children diagnosed with autism and intellectual disabilities. The cause was established by Keeley and her mother Sharon after seeing firsthand the benefits technology can bring to children with Autism and Intellectual disabilities.

Keeley and Sharon hope to create an education system where no child is pushed through without the technology to succeed. Sharon says that, “Keeley has struggled with paper-based classroom work and tests all her life. Put that same test or classroom exercise on an iPad and she does 100% better.”

If a child is diagnosed with autism or an intellectual disability, they may have access to an iPad at school. These iPads remain at school and are shared around the classroom, so the learning stops when the child goes home.

It benefits a child immensely when they can continue their learning and have access to the same resources at home. For some families, purchasing an iPad may not be within their budget and Keeley’s Cause can help.
