NVW 2023: The Change Makers
National Volunteer Week (NVW) is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering and will be held on 15 – 21 May 2023.
Particularly this week, we’d like to recognise the impact of change-makers in their workplace getting their colleagues involved in the community.
Together, we can create new and innovative ways to get involved in our communities that lean on our individual strengths and direct support to where it’s needed most.

What does volunteering mean to you?
We understand that many of you engage in the community in your own ways, formal or informal, online or in person. Or perhaps you’re in-between opportunities and haven’t found the right one that connects with your interests and passions. Let us know your volunteering story by filling in our quick form:

Corporate Volunteering Stories
Hear the experiences of volunteer team building activities! Applying their skills for good and connecting with like-minded colleagues, employees can support community organisations in need.

Peter Burdon-Smith, Head of Leasing @ Mirvac
I think it was really good to just step outside of our normal roles, use our current skill-sets and apply them in a not-for-profit sense. It's opened my mind up to step outside my comfort zone to help someone else for the greater good.

Dean Uhlmann, Healthcare System Partner @ Roche
The flexibility that allows for volunteering within the working day is just awesome. This is I think a better way of using some of that leave, an hour a week over a period of time.

Sarah Clarke, General Manager Sustainability @ Mirvac
We wanted to do more of that skills-based, professional-based volunteering. I really hope the people who participated felt like we've been able to lend some practical support to organisations.

Dahlia, Corporate Volunteer @ Pfizer
It was a great opportunity to connect with other Pfizer colleagues and really brainstorm a solution for not-for-profits. I've had the privilege to do it face-to-face and virtual . And I think they've both been very wonderful experiences.

Koray Koksa, Rare Disease Lead - Asia @ Pfizer
It was a collaborative effort with real outcomes to real problems. I found the experience immensely rewarding, educational, and ultimately meaningful. We made a real impact on a medical challenge.

Vijay Pawar, Software Developer & Volunteer
Volunteering is an opportunity to experience the happiness that money cannot buy. I got an opportunity to add good karma to my life, and to experience a life well-lived.
